The meditation-manifestation connection, and how to unlock your deepest desires through thought.

"Where attention goes, energy flows." -- Most of us are familiar with the law of attraction, which simply put, is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focused on. Meditation, as we know, improves focus. Sense the connection?

If you're not using Yoga Wake Up yet to start your day, you may be waking up to social media, your favorite news app or other clickbait on your smartphone. It's common today to be surrounded by many distractions and so much vying for our attention, from the moment we open our eyes lasting into the day and even affecting our ability to sleep soundly.

How is it possible to focus intently enough on our desires when we cannot seem to maintain constant focus on much at all?

In a 2017 study by the University of Waterloo, just 10 minutes of meditation was discovered to suppress anxious thought and encourage mindfulness-- an act that subsequently frees the mind of clutter thus inviting in new more focused thought.

The study, which assessed the impact of meditation with 82 participants who experience anxiety, found that developing an awareness of the present moment reduced incidents of repetitive, off-task thinking, a hallmark of anxiety. This plays a bit into a concept called The Feedback Loop in which thoughts impact actions and actions impact feelings, which conclude with feelings ultimately impacting thoughts. It's important to consider because in manifestation and the Law of Attraction, "whatever can be imagined and held in the mind’s eye is achievable if you take action on a plan to get to where you want to be."

In other words, if you can dream it, theoretically, you can do it! Shall we try?

Tips for using meditation to manifest your desires

Visualize the prize

It can be much easier to build an image in the mind using visualization when in a meditative state. Meditation allows you to focus on a central image without distraction.

Be open to the possibilities.

Meditation raises your vibration and activates your receiving mode, therefore allowing you to pull energy inward. Something like inspired guidance or intuitive understanding of which path is the clearer one to take may open up to you while in meditation. Practice honing you ability to attune while in this state really listening to your soul's purpose and desire.

Use the power of affirmation

You can use affirmation as a meditation mantra to both maintain focus and reach a deeper level of intention setting. After all, an intention is often something we hope to manifest. Simply creating an I AM statement can provide the confidence and optimism needed to manifest.

Try a flow-state meditation

Using meditation to achieve a flow state, also know as "the zone" will help you dive deeper into the land free of distractions. Practicing meditations such as Tammy Mittell's Flow State Yoga Wake Up audio daily or regularly will make getting into a flow state easier.
