What to Expect on Your First Yoga Retreat

Ever thought about going on a yoga retreat but wondered… is it really for me?

You’re not alone. We hear this a lot. And the truth is—yes, yes it is.

Kawoq Forest in Lake Atitlán, Guatemala

Whether you’ve been practicing for years or you’re just trying to remember to breathe deeply every now and then, a retreat is less about “being good at yoga” and more about giving yourself the space to feel good—mind, body, and soul.

A yoga retreat is your chance to hit pause, step away from the noise, and reset. It’s a few days that are just for you—mornings by the water, moving your body with intention, soaking in nature, and connecting with people who get it.

If you’ve been craving that reset—or just dreaming about getting away somewhere beautiful—this might be exactly what you need.

Our New Yoga Wake Up Trips: What Makes Them Special?

We’re thrilled to announce Yoga Wake Up Trips, our new way to take everything you love about the app—mindful mornings, movement, meditation, and community—out into the world.

We’ve teamed up with Emilie Perz, a master teacher, founder of Sequential Body, and longtime Yoga Wake Up instructor, to design these retreats. Emilie brings years of experience leading transformational retreats around the world. Together, we’ve created a travel experience that’s equal parts energizing, grounding, and fun.

And this is just the beginning. We’ll be collaborating with other amazing Yoga Wake Up teachers on future trips, giving you the chance to meet the voices you wake up with every day—and practice with them in some of the most beautiful places on Earth.

This is a special time to join us. These are our very first retreats, and we’re building something we know will grow—so come be part of the start.

Who Are Yoga Wake Up Retreats For? (Spoiler: You!)

Our retreats are designed with you in mind:

  • Beginners curious about yoga and mindfulness in a relaxed, supportive setting.

  • Experienced yogis craving a new backdrop to deepen their practice.

  • Anyone feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just ready for a mental and physical reset.

  • Those eager to travel with purpose—to see the world, reconnect with yourself, and find community along the way.

What to Expect on a Yoga Wake Up Retreat

Each Yoga Wake Up retreat is a little different, but here’s what you can count on:

☀️ Mornings with Intention
We start every day the Yoga Wake Up way—with yoga, meditation, and breathwork to set the tone for a day of feeling good.

🌿 Adventure & Exploration
Guided hikes, lake swims, exploring colorful towns, or paddleboarding at sunrise—depending on the destination.

🍽️ Local Flavor
Fresh, nourishing meals inspired by the region—think Guatemalan coffee by the lake or tropical fruits in Colombia. Meals are often shared family-style, giving us time to unwind and connect.

🧘‍♀️ Rest & Recharge
This is your time. Read by the water, nap in a hammock, or sip coffee while you journal. We build in downtime so you can truly relax.

🤝 Connection
The best part? The people. You’ll meet others craving the same things—balance, presence, and a little more joy.

FAQs

Do I need to be “good at yoga”?
Not at all. Whether you’re working on your first Downward Dog or you’ve been practicing for years, our teachers meet you where you are. Everything is accessible, and you can move at your own pace.

Do I have to participate in everything?
Nope. This is your retreat. Every activity is optional—you choose what feels right for you.

Can I come alone?
Absolutely! Many people do. Our retreats are designed to make solo travelers feel comfortable and welcomed. You’ll leave with new friends.

Will this be a silent retreat?
Nope! While we hold space for quiet and mindfulness, this is a chance to connect—with yourself and others. Expect conversations, laughter, and community.

What if I’m nervous about coming?
Totally normal. A retreat can feel like a big step, but we’re here to support you. Everyone arrives with their own reasons for coming—you’ll fit right in.

Why You Deserve This

Life is busy, and it’s rare we get the chance to step back, breathe deeply, and focus on ourselves.

A Yoga Wake Up retreat is more than a trip. It’s a reset. A chance to reconnect—with your body, your breath, and what really matters.

And we’d love for you to be part of it.
