Teacher Spotlight: Emilie Perz


Hopefully by now you've had the opportunity to try one or all of Emilie's Hormone Balancing sessions-- she just launched THREE NEW ONES on Yoga Wake Up dedicated to balancing a few of our most important chemical messengers: dopamine, estrogen, cortisol and melatonin.

Emilie's an incredible resource when it comes to yoga anatomy and physiology because of her work with UrbanMed, where she meets one-on-one with patients to create individual pre/post rehabilitation treatment plans consisting of yoga movement, pranayama, meditation and myofascial release. Emilie has more than 1000 hours of yoga education, has taught more than 20 workshops globally and has served as teacher trainer for several yoga institutions including YogaWorks, Yoga Medicine, Light on Lotus, and Equinox.


We're thrilled to have her back on Yoga Wake Up with new content, so without further ado, let's get to know one of Los Angeles' best instructors!

Getting to know Emilie Perz...

AM ROUTINE

As a community leader bringing people together, I wake up every morning and repeat my mantra: "I'm so thankful to be here another day. What is it that I want to say?" It immediately allows me to tap into the feeling of gratitude for whatever comes my way that day. I then immediately meditate for at least 15 minutes and before I begin my creative process of designing and theming classes.

WHY I PRACTICE

I've practiced everyday since I was a teenager. For me it's the faith and discipline within myself that keep me coming to my mat. As an empath, moving helps me to tap into my creative life-force, Shakti, and gives me a creative outlet for expression of myself.

PM ROUTINE

No phones and no TV one hour before bed or I won't sleep well. Baths with aromatherapy salts and alone time are super necessary for me to get a good night's rest. I usually do light reading, a body scan and I listen to soothing ocean waves to help me tune into rest.
