"Partner Stretch" wakeup for Valentine's Day (a Photo Companion)



Yoga brings an intimate connection to yourself and those around you. Some of the best mornings of my life have started next to my partner and I'm sure you can relate to that. I often don't want to get out of bed right away and I need to move around a little before I face the outside world. Yoga Wake Up offers the perfect opportunity to do just that, and why not connect with the beautiful body laying next to you in this process.

I created this simple restorative partner sequence for the Yoga Wake Up app to help you feel loved and supported by eachother before you even get out of bed.

You can find "Partner Stretch" an audio-guided wakeup by Laurel Erilane on the app under New Wakeups. The following is a series of photos to accompany the audio, in case you need a visual for setting up each pose.

The goal with this partner stretch is to use your bodies together to help adjust one another in dynamic movements to feel super yummy stretches. Each posture is designed so that you each get used to the tension between your held body positions to provide a slow deep extension. It's important to communicate with your partner about the appropriate depth of sensation. It's all about feeling supported as you relax into blissful restorative asana.

The track selection is all from Four Tet's New Energy album who is one of my favorite music producers. I really think it brings your body into a harmonic trance if you just close your eyes and let it clear your mind. I hope you enjoy this series and maybe it even inspires you to explore more stretches. Yes, you know what I mean and yes, that's yoga too.
