Teacher Spotlight: Justin Randolph

We first met Justin shortly after he moved from New York to LA and began teaching at our fave local studio, Light on Lotus. His yin classes are such a treat on Friday afternoons; they're quite possibly the perfect way to wrap up a busy week. So naturally we were delighted to record with him. Having that kind of guidance at your fingertips through Yoga Wake Up is simply wonderful.

Justin just recently took over ownership at the Yoga Loft, a lovely oceanfront studio here and worth a visit if you come to LA and want to practice literally facing the sun setting into the ocean waves. We're thrilled he's laid down roots and will be here awhile. Read on to learn more about Justin, and try out his wakeups tomorrow for a fresh start on the week!

Getting to know Justin Randolph...

AM ROUTINE Morning begins first with coffee, always--The coffee comes with me to my altar while I arrive to the day quietly in meditation without electronics. This is usually followed by a short yin practice to start my day slowly and get my vibration out of the realms of any kind of fast or anxious pace.

WHY I PRACTICE

I practice to learn about how my mind works and to organize myself so that I can notice the patterns that life and the mind places in my body, heart, and mind.

PM ROUTINE

After a long day of teaching, my evening ends with a hot bath, followed by an episode of The Golden Girls, and a snuggle with my man and my dogs before I drift off to dream land. Simple and real.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU?

I live in Los Angeles. I teach at Light On Lotus and am also the owner of The Yoga Loft, a beachfront boutique yoga studio in Manhattan Beach. I also hop to the East Coast on occasion to teach teachers in teacher training with Three Sisters Yoga. Find more about me and my complete schedule at www.justinrandolphyoga.com

FAVE TUNES TO PRACTICE TO Andrew Bird’s Ethio Invention no. 1 makes me feel expansive, Lana Del Rey is best for deep hip openers, and Tiphanie Doucet’s Under My Sun is one of my number one go to’s for an uplifting savasana.

Aham Prema! I AM DIVINE LOVE!

ANYTHING YOU WANT US TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR RECENT NEW RECORDINGS

The morning is such a sacred time; What we do in the first few moments coming out of sleep maps out the remainder of our day. If we pick up our phones and immediately dive into our email or texts we are already taken out of the present moment and put head first into the path of responsibility and anxiety. Instead pick up your phone and melt into a soft practice of meditation or yoga to set your day right.

The Yin practice is one of my favorites. Giving yourself the opportunity to begin your day in a yin kind of way will allow you to handle anything that comes your way with grace and ease. If you need some light to pour through your being the Reiki meditation is channeled Reiki energy for you waiting for you to receive. And if you want a short more physical practice to organize yourself, get on your mat and get organized in an easy way.

Justin's new recordings include "Yummy Yin", "A Reiki Morning" and "Loving the Perfectly Imperfect You!" All are designed to deliver peace and love to you upon waking up. We hope you enjoy!
